Privacy policy

The Recipe Club ("we" or "us"), 35 Market Street, Huddersfield HD1 1PB, runs therecipeclub.co.uk. We decide how your information is used, which makes us the data controller under UK data protection law. Questions about your information go to hi@therecipeclub.co.uk.

Your account: your email address, your name if you give it, your password (stored scrambled, we can never see it) and your club face or photo.

Your membership: which plan you are on and when it renews. Card details go straight to Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your card number.

What you do in the Club: recipes you save, add or import, your meal plans, your week, shopping lists, comments and feedback you send us.

Emails: if you join the mailing list, your email, your first name if you give it, and when you said yes.

Phone notifications: if you turn them on, a code from your browser that lets us send them. Turn them off any time from your profile.

Technical basics: the logs any website keeps to stay secure and working, such as the date and time of a visit and the type of device.

To run your membership and the Club itself (our contract with you).

To take payments and keep records the law asks for (legal obligation).

To send you emails about recipes and offers, only if you said yes (consent). Every email has an unsubscribe link.

To keep the Club secure, fix problems and work out what to improve (our legitimate interests).

We never sell your information and never use it to show you adverts from other companies.

Only the companies that help us run the Club, and only what each one needs: Stripe (payments), Supabase (our database and sign-in), Mailchimp (emails), our website host, and the browser companies that deliver phone notifications.

Some of these companies store information outside the UK. When they do, they are bound by the legal safeguards UK law requires.

Your account and what you have saved stay while you are a member and for 2 years after your membership ends, so it is all there if you come back. Ask us and we will delete it sooner.

Payment records are kept for 6 years because tax law requires it.

If you unsubscribe from emails, we keep your email on a do-not-email list so you are never added again by mistake.

We only use what is needed to keep you signed in and remember your choices, such as closing a message. These don't need your permission. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to stop. Email hi@therecipeclub.co.uk and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
